A Simple but Brilliant Idea
Tailbreaker started as a solution to a problem. One of our founders, George Otta and his Father were cutting trees in the bush and when lunchtime arrived had nowhere to sit, except on the hard uncomfortable tailgate of their pickup truck. George imagined a solution, it would be nice to sit on chairs while using the tailgate as a convenient lunch spot. The seats also needed to be comfortable, easy to use and part of the truck . . . . . and so, Tailbreaker was born.

The concept was straightforward: back your truck up to a serene lake, attach Tailbreaker to the hitch, drop the tailgate, crack open a cold one, and fish away.

Over the past two decades, tailgating has evolved from an occasional pastime to an integral part of sports fans’ lives nationwide. Tailbreaker is an evolution in tailgate seating. Striving for Perfection
Once George put the concept of Tailbreaker on paper he set out to bring his vision to life. The first prototype was built and the process of creating the perfect Tailbreaker began. Over the next 4 years George's original concept evolved into the durable, comfortable and easy to install Tailbreaker of today.
