Installation & Assembly Instructions
Tailbreaker Assembly Video
HITCH ASSEMBLY SEQUENCE
PREP & INSERT THE MAIN YOKE
Remove the components from your premium Tailbreaker carry bag and ensure your vehicle’s 2-inch hitch receiver is clear of any dirt or debris. Slightly open the swing arms to get a comfortable, balanced grip on the main yoke, then slide the solid steel frame directly into the receiver.
DEPLOY THE SWING ARMS
Pull the swing arms outward to your desired operational angle. You can angle them to keep your tailgate fully open and accessible as a table or prep station, or swing them out for a wider panoramic view of your surroundings.
ENGAGE THE NO-TOOL LOCK
Turn the quick-locking knob clockwise until it is firmly hand-tight. This secures the system and completely eliminates shifting or rattling. The entire system is tool-free, no wrenches or loose hitch pins required.
ALIGN AND SLIDE TO INTERLOCK
Clear all debris from your vehicle's standard 2-inch receiver box. Lift the primary hitch base by the structural center beam and slide the solid steel shank directly into the receiver sleeve until the primary retention ports line up horizontally.
MOUNT & SECURE THE SEATS
Take one of the ergonomic, molded polymer seats and pull the locking pin while sliding it onto the swing arm. Release the pin and push the seat forward until you hear a solid click. Give it a gentle tug to confirm it’s locked securely in place. Repeat for the second seat, and you’re ready to give your tail a break.
PLATFORM STATE ALTERATIONS
The Tailbreaker requires no locking pins to stay in position. Thanks to our built-in precision tension system, the system will remain exactly where you place it. It will never move on its own, yet it smoothly rotates and swivels whenever you apply deliberate user force to push or adjust it.
Tailbreaker is engineered for seamless versatility. Simply engage the 180° swing arms to rotate your seating outward, instantly clearing the way to drop your tailgate. Need full access to your cargo? Fold both seats flat and slide the unit beneath the tailgate line for a completely unobstructed workspace. For quick, one-handed access, simply pivot an individual seat to the side. Your vehicle, fully optimized.
COMPLIANCE & FIELD TOLERANCES
Condition: Seating assembly unlevel due to uneven, sloped, or soft ground at the campsite or tailgate..
Field Tolerance: Maximum allowable pitch variance of 5 degrees to ensure optimal weight distribution across both 360° swivel seats. Resolution Telemetry Mode: Do not deploy seats on severe inclines. If setup terrain is slightly uneven, use the integrated two-setting height adjustment to find the optimal clearance. For soft ground (mud, sand, or loose gravel), ensure the vehicle is parked on stable footing before swinging the articulating arms out to the seating position.
Condition: Micro-movement or frame play detected at the 2” hitch receiver interface during setup.
Field Tolerance: Zero tolerance for frame play. The entire seating system must remain perfectly rigid once deployed. With the vehicle safely parked and the engine off, access the underside mounting shank. Use a wrench to loosen the secondary lock nut, then rotate the primary tension handle clockwise until the internal wedge lock is fully compressed against the interior receiver sleeve wall. Retighten the lock nut firmly to lock the basecamp in place.
Condition: Weight or balance limit exceeded on the quick-connect expandability system port
Field Tolerance: Accessory ports are engineered strictly for approved Tailbreaker add-ons (like upcoming heated/padded camo seat covers or gear attachments). If the dual articulating frame arms feel heavy or restricted when rotating 180° outward, inspect the quick-connect system for debris or unapproved third-party attachments. Clear the receiver ports, ensure only authorized Tailbreaker gear is mounted, and verify both seats fold flat effortlessly without straining the frame.
