Dove hunting is a social field sport. You park at the edge of a sunflower or milo field, set up along a fence line, and spend hours waiting between flights. Tailbreaker turns your pickup truck into a comfortable field-edge Command Center, with stable seating, an open tailgate, and room for the whole crew’s water, shells, and gear.
The goal is simple: stay comfortable, stay alert, and enjoy more time outdoors without sinking into hard ground or sitting on a bucket.
Dove season is underway
In Texas, where Tailbreaker ships from, dove season opened statewide on September 1, 2026.
The first split runs:
- North Zone: September 1–November 8
- Central Zone: September 1–October 25
- South Zone: September 1–October 25
The second parts of the season return in December, with dates that vary by zone. Before every hunt, check the latest Texas Parks and Wildlife dove regulations or your own state wildlife agency for season dates, licenses, bag limits, shooting hours, and field rules.
The field-edge comfort problem
Dove shooting includes plenty of action, but it also includes plenty of waiting.
You may spend the middle of the afternoon sitting beside an open field with:
- Sun on your back
- Hard or uneven ground beneath you
- Folding chair legs sinking into loose soil
- A five-gallon bucket that gets uncomfortable fast
- No good place for water, shells, or a cooler
- Your crew spread out along a fence line
Searching for hunting seats turns up a lot of buckets and folding chairs. Those options may work for a short sit, but they do not give you much flexibility when the ground is gravel, plowed dirt, or uneven field grass.
Tailbreaker gives your group a more useful setup. It keeps you elevated above the ground and lets two people face different directions between flights. You can watch the field edge, talk with a friend, reach your gear, and use the truck as a real base camp.

Tailbreaker is a field-edge comfort system, not a shooting platform
This point matters: Tailbreaker is a camp and field-edge comfort system. It is not a shooting platform.
No one should shoot from the Tailbreaker system. Never use it as a shooting rest, stand, firing position, or substitute for a safe legal hunting position. Never handle a firearm while seated on the system. Keep the seating system clear of muzzle direction, and move to your designated shooting position before handling a firearm.
The system can help you stay comfortable while watching the field, organizing supplies, and taking breaks between flights. Its raised position may also give you a better view over the field edge or fence line to spot birds coming in. That does not change where or how you may legally shoot.
What makes Tailbreaker different?
The Tailbreaker® 360°/180° Hitch-Mounted Dual Seating System uses your vehicle’s steel frame instead of fragile chair legs.
The main black square-steel yoke slips into your standard 2-inch hitch receiver. The two black square-steel swing arms are permanently attached to that main yoke bar. Each arm rotates independently through 180 degrees and has two height settings.
Two identical light gray molded polymer seats pop onto the arms. Each one swivels 360 degrees on its own axis. These are two completely independent seating positions, not a bench and never one connected unit.
That independent design gives your dove camp several useful layouts.
1. Swing back toward the field
Swing both arms all the way back to face the field edge, tree line, or fence line. This gives you a comfortable place to watch the area during a break or between flights.
Keep water, snacks, a cooler, and field gear close by in the open truck bed.
2. Swing to the side for conversation
Swing the arms to the side so two people can face each other between flights. This is a better setup for sharing a drink, checking the day’s plan, or talking with your hunting partner.
Because both arms move independently, each person can choose a different angle.
3. Swing inward toward the tailgate
Swing the seating positions inward toward the open tailgate. The tailgate remains fully accessible as a bird-cleaning and gear-prep station after firearms are unloaded, cased, and safely out of the work area.
It can also serve as a cooler bench, shell and gear table, water station, or shaded work surface. You stay off your knees while handling camp tasks and cleaning birds. 4. Use Table Mode
One seating position can fold flat with the cup holders accessible. This creates a handy side table for a drink, phone, notebook, or small field items while the other independent position remains upright.
Table Mode is useful during the long lull when the birds are quiet and the crew is focused on food, water, and conversation.
Stable support on rough field ground
A folding chair depends on four legs staying balanced. That can be difficult on gravel, plowed dirt, soft soil, or uneven field ground.
Tailbreaker is anchored to your vehicle through the standard 2-inch receiver. Each seating position supports up to 275 pounds using the vehicle’s steel frame. That means no sinking legs and no loose chair wobble during normal use within the rated capacity.
It is a practical truck hitch seating solution for the field edge, especially when the ground is less than perfect.
The all-weather, UV-resistant construction is built for outdoor use. When the hunt is over, the system folds clamshell flat. Place it in the premium branded carrying bag and drop it into the truck bed between hunts.
Setup takes under 30 seconds
Dove camp does not need a complicated setup.
The main yoke slips into the 2-inch receiver. Turn the quick-locking knob to secure the system, swing the arms into position, choose one of the two height settings, and you are ready to use the seating system.
No additional tools are needed.
The system also packs easily for the next trip, whether you are heading out in a pickup truck, SUV, Jeep, UTV, or ATV with a compatible 2-inch receiver.
“Set it up at our base camp for hunting season. Super sturdy, and the swivel seats let me relax while still being ready.”- Sarah L., Tailbreaker customer
Here, “ready” means ready for camp tasks, conversation, and a change of view, not ready to fire from the system.
Another Tailbreaker customer described the benefit of staying off the ground:
“I’ve got a bad back, so sitting on a cooler or a flimsy camp chair doesn’t cut it anymore. I put the Tailbreaker on my truck down by the lake, and it’s perfect.”- Joey D., Tailbreaker customer
Build a better dove-field base camp
A strong setup starts with the truck.
Keep the following items on or near the open tailgate:
- Water jugs and electrolyte drinks
- A cooler with food
- Shell boxes and field supplies
- Sunscreen and insect repellent
- Hand wipes and paper towels
- A bird-cleaning kit
- A first-aid kit
- Extra hats and lightweight layers
Use the tailgate as your central work surface. Tailbreaker adds outdoor adventure seating behind the truck without blocking access to the bed.
Two people can sit facing different directions while the rest of the group gathers around the vehicle. That makes Tailbreaker more than a truck accessory. It becomes an adventure truck accessory and the ultimate Adventure Hub for your base camp.

Dove hunting safety comes first
Comfort should support safe hunting habits, never replace them.
Always:
- Follow all state, federal, and local hunting regulations.
- Confirm your own zone, season dates, shooting hours, license rules, and bag limits with your state wildlife agency.
- Treat every firearm as loaded.
- Keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
- Keep your finger outside the trigger guard until ready to fire.
- Know your target and what is beyond it.
- Keep firearms unloaded and cased while stored or transported.
- Never handle a firearm while seated on the Tailbreaker system.
- Keep the seating system, truck, people, livestock, buildings, and roads clear of muzzle direction.
- Follow hunter orange requirements wherever they apply. Even where orange is not required for dove hunting, a bright hat or vest can improve visibility around a group.
- Never use the seating system while the vehicle is moving.
Choose a safe shooting area with clear lanes and a safe backdrop. Do not shoot near vehicles, livestock, homes, barns, roads, or other structures. Ask permission before hunting private land or retrieving a bird across a property line.
Respect landowners and other hunters. Pack out shells, food waste, and trash. Leave the field as you found it.
